i’m a certified mindfulness meditation teacher whose practice combines body and breath awareness, evidence-based neuroscience and western psychology, and the ancient eastern wisdom traditions.

i absolutely love helping all kinds of people learn the ancient practices of breath awareness, mindfulness, and meditation. i believe in the mystical, the truth of change, and the wisdom of energy invisible to the eye. but the work we do together is not magic - it’s practical, personal, and deep.

my extensive training includes certifications in mindfulness meditation, yoga, reiki, trauma, family and older adult mediation, and as an end of life doula. i have been teaching meditation for over a decade and have sat in numerous silent retreats.

like life, my journey here was not linear or obvious.  it unfolded over time through moments of triumph and failure, joy and pain.

i am also a practicing attorney, spending the first 8 years of my career as a prosecutor in the manhattan da‘s office and then more than 25 years specializing in elder justice. in 2004, i co-founded the nation's first shelter for older adults who experience abuse in the community and then created a national movement of shelters. i’ve had the opportunity to train thousands of multi-disciplinary professionals around the world, including the united states senate special committee on aging, about elder justice.

i am nourished by the great outdoors, walking, hiking, running, lakes, trees and travel. poetry and other great writing enlivens my life, too.  teaching makes me happy. rituals matter to me. you can usually catch me reading several books at a time and favor medium nibbed pens and paper journals. i have run two NYC marathons and every year with some friends, we enjoy a day-long walk from the northernmost tip of manhattan to the battery. after a series of difficult rain-soaked vacations, i have learned to embrace all kinds of weather, including completing a winter cold plunge. my family includes two loving adult children, a very special husband, and a sweet, licorice-colored little girl dog named “redwood.”
